Lost Lake Nature Park, Lost Lake Trail, Oakland Township, MI
Oakland Township Parks and Recreation and Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve have partnered to bring Oakland Township residents and others exciting new programs at Lost Lake Nature Park. Family, friends and neighbors are invited to explore everything this partnership has to offer.
Open houses are FREE! Open houses are FUN! Open Houses are for EVERYONE! The nature center will be open for four drop-in hours! Along with being able to explore this unique and magnificent park we will have themed activities and discussions on a monthly topic. We encourage you to make a day of your adventure and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy a scenic view of our secluded Lost Lake from beneath the canopy of some impressive white pines. Each month features its own unique natural topic with materials and activities for adults and children alike, free snacks, and crafts and games for our youngest participants.
November 21, 2021 12-4pm Michigan Turkeys
Meets at Lost Lake Nature Park, 846 Lost Lake Trail, Oakland Township Michigan
It might actually be illegal to talk about turkeys any other month than November so when this chilly month rolls around we need to jam in as much turkey knowhow as possible (we only have 30 days!) Join us at Lost Lake as we explore the wacky and wild world of the noble turkey. This large bird has comically distinct scat, a history with Benjamin Franklin, the kookiest adaptations of the avian community and some really impressive feathers! We will look at a turkey mount up close, pursue them in the woods, and perfect our turkey calls. Our youngest explorers will have the opportunity to put together their own decorative placemats for the upcoming holiday.
