Nature gives us so much, sometimes it’s great to give back! Donating your time to Dinosaur Hill can be a fun and rewarding experience. Whether you are an individual, a group, or part of a service project we have various projects that we need help to complete.

We work hard to match out volunteers with projects and activities that are of interest to them and meet there skills. Whether you are looking for community service for graduation, a working adult looking to spend time giving back to your community, a retired teacher looking to share your love of the outdoors with groups of visiting school children, or anywhere in between we're sure to find something that will make your time at Dinosaur Hill a rewarding experience. 

Assistant Naturalist

The Assistant Naturalist position is paid per program. Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve services several schools and daycares in our area, including all of the Rochester Community schools (K-3rd grade). The person(s) in this position will both assist and lead nature programming at the preserve and beyond. Scheduling can be flexible. Typical desired times for the Assistant Naturalists are Monday thru Friday, 9:30am- 2:30pm during the school year, and summer camp hours during the summer.

Observation of a class is required before teaching the class. Multiple exposures to the class are allowed, and even suggested, to ensure you're comfortable with the material. Common topics include: animal habitats, animal adaptations and plant life cycles. We also have a few social studies based programs like The People of the 3 Fires (Native American) and Pioneer Survival. For more information about Assistant Naturalist openings, contact us at info@dinosaurhill.org
